"A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know." - Diane Arbus

Fragments Collection - at first glance the images in this collection show French scenes like the Canal Saint-Martin à Paris. With a second look, they quickly dissolve into impossible visual contradictions. They were inspired by the Cubists, works like that by the French artist George Braque, or from Picasso’s Analytic phase (1910-12). These two artists drew on multiple perspectives to create images that feature snatched, multi-faceted glimpses of everyday subjects.

Like the Narratives, these images are digital composites, multiple exposures shot from different viewpoints to capture the singularities of the city and the people in them going about their daily business — reflections of my personal experience of France at a particular moment in time.
